City actively courting economic opportunitiesBy: | Posted: Saturday, Dec 01, 2012 06:00 am An article in the Nov. 24 edition of the Gazette incorrectly stated that Coun. MacKay was the only person from the city in attendance at the Sturgeon County’s Economic Development Board fall business breakfast. In fact, Aaron Latimer, the city’s Investment Attraction Manager was there, in place of Guy Boston, Executive Director who was unable to attend. This article and the Gazette editorial of Nov. 28 (St. Albert’s Field of Dreams) are misleading in that they leave people with the perception that the City is not pursuing obvious opportunities with enthusiasm and great interest – this could not be further from the truth. Aaron also was in contact with Doug Bertsch, VP with the North West Refinery, prior to and after the event to discuss economic opportunities. We are not just sitting back and waiting but working hard to make it happen. The city is building its strategy for economic development, but we are certainly not standing still as far as business attraction and development goes.
