Vader case delayed another monthBy: By Ryan Tumilty | Posted: Wednesday, Aug 22, 2012 06:00 am Edson – Travis Edward Vader's case was delayed another month on Tuesday and will now return to court on Sept. 18. The Crown prosecutor requested extra time to provide disclosure information to the defence. Vader is charged with murder in the deaths of St. Albert couple Lyle and Marie McCann and has made several court appearances since he was charged in April. Disclosure is the requirement that the Crown provide the defence with all the materials it will use in a trial against an accused. This must happen before the trial and usually happens before an accused enters a plea. Prosecutor Michelle Doyle said the Crown had passed on the first part of the disclosure to Vader's lawyer, but there was more information to provide and she hoped to be able to do that within the next month. Vader will face a preliminary inquiry to determine if there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial. A date for that inquiry could be set at the next court appearance. Lyle and Marie McCann left their St. Albert home on July 3, 2010, en route for a vacation in British Columbia. The burnt out shell of their motorhome was found on July 5. The formal search for them did not begin until July 10, when family reported them missing after they failed to arrive in British Columbia. Comments
