Concerning "astounding" attitudes and positions on dogs, Lisa Ryan's certainly qualify. She claims that dogs are "valued" family members, but they seem more like jailers, according to her standard. I must "hire a pet sitter" if I wish to leave the house? I hope Lisa Ryan is neither a police officer nor a judge. The law says nothing about the combination of hot weather, cars and dogs: the stipulation is only that provision be made, which it certainly was. I did not "cook" my dog and will not be accused of doing so.

Don't lecture me about the heat and dogs. Do you walk your dog on a hot day, Lisa Ryan, as many people do?

A very bad practice like that can quickly overheat your dog, and much more so than being in a cooled crate inside a car with the windows open.

What exactly are the parameters? Is 20 degrees in a closed car situated in the sun with windows closed better or worse than 28 degrees with windows open and ice as a coolant? Does the shade of a tree count? Can the cold of winter be a danger? Must I have the house air-conditioned or risk being charged with animal abuse? Bailey, my dog, sometimes throws himself on the wooden floor in the evening to cool himself. Maybe you should look into that. And maybe you should direct your do-gooder tendencies toward real causes. Were I a dog, would choose myself as an owner over you any day.
