Editorial was a cat-hating rant

I would like to know how an obvious animal-hating person gets away with spewing their personal opinion disguised as an Our View article. (Jan. 28 Gazette editorial: ‘There’s no call for cats on planes.’)

This is not my view, nor of anyone else I know. It would be nice if the anonymous writer got all the facts before he/she went off on their little vitriolic tirade against cats and companion animals. The feline bolted when the door to the carrier was inadvertently opened by a passenger who was attempting to put luggage in an overhead compartment.

Animals get loose in the cargo area of planes from time to time, which can cause delays but this is not advertised to the general public. Air Canada did its job in corralling the frightened feline, and kudos to them for being able to return the beloved pet unharmed.

All said, this letter would not have been so offensive if the writer had not directed it to their obvious personal hatred of cats.
