Let's get some creative art projects going
St. Albertans: Brighten your botanical arts community. Walking on the trails every day, we plead with each other about the desire for more public art. Under the pedestrian bridges the scene is colourless and dismal. We’re bored with grey.
We want to see a botanical mural with contemporary edge, vivid patterns, AstroTurf mounted on a wall — something that makes us think of our city as a uniquely imaginative place.
Our city has many well-known spaces that could further benefit from having something distinct, eye-catching, and unique to our community. What fits in with St. Albert’s personality? And how can we aesthetically grow the boundaries of its personality? We need art that transcends a space and does more than blend into the background. We need people stopping to take photographs and share images with local friends and friends abroad. Playfulness and embracing diverse art will attract our citizens. Public art is a great way for a community to have a little fun and show off its multiple layers. Art projects are definitely happening in St. Albert, but we would like to see fresher, more unique ideas. Illuminate the landscape!
