Let’s Get Acquainted

St. Albert is the ideal market for sales hungry businesses. Our city has the second highest household income in Alberta, with a median household income of $96,900. Our median family income is 36 per cent above the Alberta median and 60 per cent above the Canadian median.

The city is a young, dynamic, family community on the northern doorstep of Alberta’s capital, Edmonton. St. Albert is Alberta’s fifth largest city with a population of 58,000. Demographics are extremely attractive as well: 27 per cent of the population is between the ages of 35 and 49 and 24 per cent of the population is between the ages of 5 and 19. The majority of residents, 76 per cent, live in single-family dwellings.

Income, demographics and a lower cost of living means more DISPOSABLE income than the majority of residents in other Canadian cities.

19%, or 7900 people, that read a community newspaper in St. Albert are exclusive readers of the Gazette and cannot be reached by any other community newspaper.

Our circulation mirrors the shopping patterns in the communities north of St. Albert. St. Albert Road (Hwy 2) is the main highway for residents north of St. Albert to travel south to St. Albert and Edmonton and it goes right through the heart of our city.

Community newspapers reach the grass roots level. A brand new community newspaper study by Combase shows extremely promising results. In an article published in the Globe and Mail, May 24, 2002, media reporter Keith Damsel wrote: "Free community newspapers are read by a greater proportion of the market than local daily newspapers."

The Alberta Weekly Newspapers' Association and the Canadian Community Newspapers' Association recognize us as Canada’s best community newspaper in 2005. We tell you this not only because we are proud of our achievements but also because SALES FOLLOW READERSHIP and we deliver!
